Wireless Networking

Wireless networks, put simply, offer all the benefits of a traditional wired network, without the wires! This allows you to move freely wherever you want, while still sharing an Internet connection, files, printers and more. You don’t even need to have a server for a small network of a few computers - each can simply talk to and share resources with the other computers on the network.

By sharing an Internet connection, printer and other devices, wireless networking provides a very cost-effective and easy solution. In a modern family house with various computers, or in an office, you may need to buy more than one printer. There is also the cost and inconvinience of running wires through the building. Wireless networks remove all these problems by using high-frequency radio waves to transmit and receive data. These signals can pass through walls and floors, allowing connection anywhere in your building.

All that is required is to simply install a special network adapter in each computer, and install the necessary communication software. All versions of Microsoft Windows from 98SE onwards include the necessary components. By setting up and using the secure Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) standard, your computers will remain private and unavailable to other wireless networks in your area.

If you have further questions, or you would like to discuss the installation of a wireless network or arrange a visit, please see the contact info page.
